The Expert Patients Programme (EPP)

Sick and tired of feeling sick and tired?

The NHS run Expert Patient Programme is for you if you have an ongoing illness or condition and want to:

  • Feel more positive and confident
  • Find out more about healthy eating, nutrition and exercise
  • Spend less time at the doctors and more time with friends and family!

The course is FREE, runs for six weeks for two and a half hours a week and can help you feel more like you control your illness and not like it controls you.

  • New skills to help you manage your condition
  • Advice on managing pain and communicating how you feel
  • Practical and realistic advice
  • Tutors who have been through the programme
  • Learn new relaxation techniques

Warning! These courses can change your life...don’t take our word for it, read our feedback from patients who have completed the course:

"I was fed up and frustrated by my condition until I went on the Expert Patient Programme. The course is not run by people quoting the text book on what you should or shouldn't do, but by people who themselves have long term health conditions and know how difficult it can be to motivate yourself sometimes, especially on a bad day. This course offers practical advice to help you get round the problems you face and learn to manage your condition to help you to get the best you can out of life."

“I felt embarrassed before that I couldn’t cope with my life and my illness; now I feel happy and confident about the future.”

“I just wanted to be left alone, I didn’t want to do a course but by the end I felt positive and enjoyed having some time off for me.”

“I was worried about what I would have to do on the course but you don’t have to perform! So even when I didn’t feel 100% I still went along for the support and advice.”
